Band Hero is out soon

October 25th, 2009 at 07:34pm Under General

With the very recent release of Guitar Hero 5 as well as the future release of DJ Hero another Hero game has been announced in the form of Band Hero. The game itself is going to be very similar to guitar hero games as you can mix and match the instruments to play. This means a combination of guitars, drums and of course the famous microphone. There is a major difference in fact between Band Hero and Guitar Hero and it could be something that makes Activision even more money out of the Hero franchise. While Guitar Hero is off concentrating on Rock and DJ hero is too busy concentrating on club/mixing, Band Hero comes in for the general audience with a mix of pop/rock, and other mainstream artists.

Some of the artists already confirmed for the game include, Roy Orbison, Avril Lavigne, Janet Jackson, The All-American Rejects and Fall Out Boy. On top of this 2008s entire biggest selling artist in the USA, Taylor Swift is set to actually appear in the game along with three of her biggest songs Love Story, Picture to Burn and You Belong with Me. As well as this Maroon 5s Adam Levine will also feature in the game so fans of both of these artists are sure to purchase the game. The games creators have really taken time and chosen the artists very carefully, getting the biggest artist of 2008 is not a bad move at all and although she suffered recently at the MTV Video Music Awards after being told (unfairly) that her video wasnt as good as Beyonce by Kanye West she continues to make a big impact on the future of country music.

If you are interested in Guitar Hero or Band Hero and wish to take your skills into playing a proper guitar then why not look into buying a electric guitars or perhaps even one of those bass guitars to really get you started.

The Electric Fender Basses – Bass With A Place In Music History

October 20th, 2009 at 10:10pm Under General

The first mass designed bass was in the 1950′s by the noted name of Fender From the initial start, Fender’s electric bass guitar became popular among many professionals, especially when bassists Roy Johnson and William ‘Monk’ Montgomery along with band leader and visionary musician, Lionel Hampton, along with his talented bass players, are what really helped make Fender electric bass guitar popular and respected among musicians. Gibson, soon after the Fender Precision Bass was offered, created a bass that seemed unusual, more like a violin, than Fender’s. With the insertion of these two electric bass guitars, the music enterprise was permanently changed; electricity was now ingrained into the world of music.

Fender bass guitars have altered very little since their introduction, despite a few small changes over the years. A lot of this is due to the staying appeal of Leo Fender’s original bass guitar, which met all of the sound requirements of the bands at the time and continue to; while Fender’s few attempts to deviate from the original design met with failure, people are clamoring to get the kinds of guitars popularized in the fifties and sixties.

Despite the big conflict about which makes a better bass guitar, you can now find bass guitars in many shapes and materials. It is simply all about what suits you best. Ebony and alder are exotic woods, but other materials along with graphite are quickly becoming the more popular materials to employ for bass bodies. With each material comes a auditory sensation unique to the guitar as well as a particular tonal quality. To find the right material, you may want to experiment with some different types. You might additionally decide if you want frets on your neck. This provides a distinctive effect on the guitar’s sound, as a bass without frets will have the strings vibrate on the wooden neck itself.

Whether you choose wood, graphite, frets, or no frets, electric bass playing and bass line creation is a fun and crucial element in music that completes the full sound.

Guitar Tricks and Tips

September 30th, 2009 at 10:31pm Under General

I’m sure you’ll discover the following very useful and interesting if you have a guitar and wish to improve your playing. Below are a few tips for guitar that could help you become a better guitarist.

If you’re looking to purchase yourself another guitar because you don’t own one already, a suggestion is don’t get a ultra inexpensive guitar that only sounds average. It’s hard to progress past the beginner’s level as they generally don’t last long and aren’t the best to play. Buy something like a classical, nylon string guitar that feels decent when you hold it and is easy on the fingers.

Learning how to read tablature can be a large help if you’re not very good at reading music so no need to worry there. It’s not challenging at all to get and once can read tab, you can learn to play almost any song.

Learn to strum more from the elbow than the wrist, this will help better your technique when learning how to strum guitar. Try to strum in such a way that your elbow does most of the movement and your wrists only move a small amount. Your should aim to keep your strumming arm moving most of the time, even if you’re not touching the strings as this will help you keep better time when you strum a guitar. If you ever need to lay your palm on the bridge while strumming, the best place to seek to strum is as near to the bridge as you can.

Another of our guitar playing tips is to zone in on learning a specific technique one at a time. Don’t just grab a solo and attempt to learn every technique in it all at the same time, string bends, vibrato, hammer-ons and pull-offs should be the primary focus to start with. Practice your first technique in the fifth fret box of the A minor pentatonic, the string tension and fret spacing for this scale box are quite helpful for first learning most of these techniques.

Learning scales will test you and improve your guitar playing so make sure you learn and know them. It provides you a new reference point or yardstick to calculate your improvement, you’ll find that your speed, clarity of notes, knowledge of the fret board, and dexterity slowly improves. Knowing how scales are just repeatable patterns is the secret to learning them, as well as thinking about the note names when you run through them and practice them consistently.

Get your colleagues to come and play with you, this will not only loosen you up a bit but you’ll gain more quick skills from one another, learn a few new songs, and learn how to jam by playing with other musicians.

In keeping yourself in good physical condition, a key factor to that is making music a part of your life as some people now know. Steve Krenz from Learn and Master Guitar is living proof of this.

There appears to be a connection between music and spatial intelligence which is  the ability tocreate mental pictures. It is said that studying music helps its students control their thoughts more coherently. The language and reasoning part of the brain is said to be improved by learning music.

passion for learning what style works out for you and what doesn’t.
The study of music can be an opportunity to individual’s self-discovery.

And of course, this is a  fantastic means for self-expression. Having to learn a positive means of self-expression will sooner or later help you build your self-esteem. People who were once painfully reserved can become more confident by finding a self-expression that they are good at. Housewives can do something out of their habit such as doing household chores
and taking their kids to schoo. Music is a great way having to express yourself while at the same
time enjoying and benefiting from the progression.

The course of music is nevercould not be too late or early. Whether you want to learn how to play an instrument so you can make an impression to your friends by playing your favorite song, or whether you want to make your occupation, it’s a good thing to start studying music. Find the kind of music that you want to learn and give it a go.

How Can I Start To Learn The Piano?

September 14th, 2009 at 10:15pm Under General

If you are learning to play the piano, then one of the first things that you will need to consider is, of course, the note. The note is the fundament of all music and the basis of all the tunes. Unfortunately, it is also what makes the music quite difficult to learn – for the first time reader it will seem like there are an endless amount of notes that must be learnt.

To start with, you will need to learn the first 12 major notes. Most of us will have encountered the do-re-mi scale at some point in our schooling. In the table below we have applied it to simplify how those notes are transferred into musical notes. There a number of techniques that we will show you that will help you to memorize the notes and also to understand them a little better as well.

When you have these notes memorized, then you will be amazed at the number of doors that open for you. The next step is to move onto learning the 12 major chords. Just by simply learning the 12 notes, you are already well on your way to learning to play the piano.

These chords are the most important that you will learn, and, like the notes, will form the bedrock for your piano playing skills. Interestingly enough, these chords correspond directly to the chords that are used in playing the guitar, so when you have mastered them you will be able to play on both the guitar AND the piano!

You can probably see the comparison between playing the piano and playing the guitar for yourself – in both media, the only thing you really need to know is the positioning of the fingers for the 12 major chords. The table above also shows you exactly where to put your fingers to form the chord.

Learning these twelve will hold you in good stead for learning all the others. As you probably would have guessed, there are a lot more chords available than just the ones that we have illustrated above, but these twelve are among the easiest to memorize.

When you begin to tackle more complex chords as you continue to learn the piano, many will seem really complicated and difficult to learn. When you have mastered these – you will more than likely find it a lot easier than you think – you can move on to learning other chords. Other chords are just variations on the chords that we have illustrated above, and if you already know those, then you shouldn’t have too much of a problem.

As you progress you’ll discover that all the other chords you will learn are based around the location of Middle C, which is the most important location to remember. The variations around it are called the minor chords. The biggest difference is that whilst the major chords take only three fingers to play, the minor chords can involve anything up to five fingers.

When you are new to playing the piano, and just starting out, a lot of this can seem overwhelming. However, you will find that the rest will come quite naturally, especially as you discover that much of the variations are simply based on what you already know. Once you have learned the principles as we have set out above, the world really is your oyster.
